SANDY POND PAGE Helen and Less Carr came to Sandy Pond in the late 40's and purchased a plot of land where the cows came to get water. Today it is the place I call home. My favorite pictures of them are below.
Sandy Pond has been my favorite place since the late 40's. As you can see below, It can be beautiful. The picture below was taken by Bob Groman from his ultra-light. It shows that delicate ecosystem located on the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Thanks Bob. (Bob continues to keep RAIL CITY history alive. See Sandy Pond Links below)
The Sunset below needed some help from my neighbor's flowers. For some really awesome sunsets, click one of the Sunset links below.
The Good and the Bad Below are some things I run across that I think people may wish to know who frequent the Pond. 9/15/2005 For those near the Pond looking for a groomer for your dog, please consider WAG N' TAILS. We just brought our standard poodle Max from there and she did a fantastic job. Not only a great job, but much more reasonable than other we have paid before. tel. 298-4634 8/30/05 Via word of mouth, I recently found a new welder in our area. Jamison's welding located behind the "Sunset Camps" on Rt 15. (in "Links" below) He does excellent work at a reasonable price. (I am not sure of the spelling, I will correct soon if necessary) His welds on the drum of my hoist winch are now better than the original. On the flip side, If you are considering Salmon River Custom Canvas you may wish to ask my opinion first. Also at Sandy Island State Park Beach we found it great for kids, but adults had less than 30" of depth to swim in, and getting there was mostly over underwater cobble stones.
